Print & The Web

Print & the Web are NOT the same.

As different as your TV is to
newspapers, is as different as
the Web is to Print media.

They are different formats, use
different software, use different
characters, they even use different
colours. If you were to print a photo optimized
for the web you would get a poor quality photo
printed.  If you used a photo straight from the camera that
you would normally use for print on your webpage, you might
possibly die of boredom waiting for the page to load.  Slow loading webpages lose visitors.  Poor quality print media gets lost among the good quality.

Have you ever wondered....

  1. How can something that you put together in a Word document cost so much to have as a website?
  2. Why can't you use your photo which is 2mb in size covering the front page?
  3. Why can't you use photos straight off your camera? Why do they have to be optimized?
  4. Why do you see wierd characters on some websites & upside down question marks?

Apples & Oranges!

But the great thing about different forms of media, is that they can form a great symbiotic relationship, that coupled with social media will enhance your public profile.

Web + Print + Social Networking = Unique Image

Dawn of a New Era

It's pretty evident by now that reading habits are changing. Where once TV & newspapers were the only place to find out what was happening in the news, socialially & what was happening in the business world, now there is the Internet. You can find out virtually anything on the Internet. It's free. It's easily accessible, and you don't have to do a balancing act on public transport to read it. Some age groups are now reading newspapers less, with nearly half of those reading Australian metropolitan newspapers being over fifty years of age. Circulations are threatened. Demographics are changing.
